APPLE VALLEY, Calif. — The Latest on the fatal stabbing of a 79-year-old California man (all times local):

Officials say a 16-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing a 79-year-old man who was an associate minister of a Southern California church.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department says deputies found the victim dead with multiple stab wounds Saturday afternoon.

Parishioners and church officials identified him as Rev. Willie Hunter of United in Christ Baptist Church of Apple Valley.

Investigators believe the teenager at Hunter’s apartment when they began arguing. The girl allegedly attacked the man before taking off with his car. She was arrested Sunday. Officials say the two knew each other, but did not elaborate.

Hunter’s friend, Frank Kelly, tells the Daily Press (http://bit.ly/2v11jXg ) that the death has shocked the church community.
