BATON ROUGE, La. — A teenager has been arrested after authorities say he and five others forced a man into a vehicle and beat him over a stolen meter box.

The Advocate reports 19-year-old Darrel Williams was arrested Saturday and charged with second-degree battery and second-degree kidnapping.

According to an affidavit, the victim was walking down the street when Williams and five other men jumped him. The victim told Baton Rouge police that he was forced into a vehicle and taken to a location where he was beaten.

Williams told police that the group was looking for the victim because he stole the power meter box from their residence. Authorities say Williams hit the victim until he could show them where the meter box was located.

It’s unclear if Williams has a lawyer.
