Man who led police on foot chase in jail

COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Columbus man who was wanted for arrest and led police on a foot chase is in jail on multiple arrest charges.

Columbus Police Department Officer Skylar Berry attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle near Eighth and Pearl streets at about 8:50 p.m. The car’s passenger door opened as the vehicle slowed down and a man later identified as Derek B. Woodson, 39, exited and began running on foot, Columbus Police Department spokesman Matt Harris said.

Officer Tony Kummer observed Woodson running a short time later and began chasing the man on foot. He continued running between houses in the 700 block of Pearl Street where he was arrested, Harris said.
