VARICK, N.Y. — Police are investigating after a young boy was killed in a farming accident Friday in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York.

Responding emergency personal say 8-year-old Wilmer Zimmerman was found pinned between a utility vehicle and a loaded hay wagon on a farm in the town of Varick, between Seneca and Cayuga lakes. Deputies with the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office say the boy was unresponsive at the scene, and it was unclear how he became trapped.

He was airlifted to a hospital in Syracuse where he died from his injuries.
