BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Authorities say the death of a 2-year-old boy found in a backyard swimming pool has been ruled accidental.
Al.com reports the body of Marquavias Deshawn Threatt was found early Monday in the pool at his family’s Birmingham home. Police were called by relatives who told officers the toddler had gone missing during a wedding reception at the house.
Birmingham police Lt. Sean Edwards said Tuesday investigators determined the cause of death was drowning. He said no foul play is suspected.
Edwards said Birmingham police officers and other first responders searched the pool’s murky water several times before the child’s body was found. Relatives told police they were celebrating the wedding of the toddler’s parents.
