PORTLAND, Ore. — Authorities say the body of second victim has been found at the site of an explosion and fire in North Portland.

The Portland Fire Bureau said Tuesday that firefighters discovered the body while searching the site near Peninsula Park. A person who had been taken the hospital after Monday’s explosion also died in the blaze.

The bureau has not released the names of the victims. The cause of the explosion and fire that destroyed one home and heavily damaged another remains under investigation.

Fire Bureau Lt. Damon Simmons says firefighters were challenged by hot weather, downed power lines and a damaged natural gas line.

It was the second double-fatal fire in as many days in Portland.
