MONTGOMERY, Ala. — An Alabama man who authorities say fatally shot a woman and wounded another man has been arrested.

The Montgomery Advertiser reports 27-year-old Johnel Travis was charged with capital murder in the death of 73-year-old Rebecca Quillin and attempted murder of an unidentified man.

Montgomery police found Quillin dead in her home Friday. According to court documents, the man had a serious gunshot wound to the face and was driven to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities say they labeled the case a homicide when they discovered the shooting took place during a burglary and home invasion.

Authorities say Travis and the victims knew each other. Court documents show that Travis’ home address is next door to the location of the shooting.

It’s unclear if Travis has a lawyer.
