HOUSTON, Miss. — The Mississippi Department of Corrections says a small amount of contraband was found at a correctional facility compared to previous shakedowns at other facilities.

The department said in a news release on Tuesday that Chickasaw County Regional Correctional Facility in Houston, Mississippi seized items that include four cellphones and nine homemade battery packs.

Commissioner Pelicia E. Hall says it appears that the Chickasaw County Regional’s administration is abiding by MDOC’s zero tolerance for contraband.

The shakedown at Chickasaw is the 16th overall since early March and the 10th of 15 regional facilities. Chickasaw can hold a maximum of 310 inmates.
