WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A 7-year-old boy has died after slipping and falling into a northeastern Pennsylvania creek.

The Luzerne County coroner is treating the boy’s death as an accidental drowning, but wasn’t releasing his name to ensure all of his relatives have been notified.

Wilkes-Barre police say the boy was playing in Mill Creek with his brother when he fell into the swift-moving water sometime about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The boy’s body was recovered about 30 minutes later.

The boy fell into the creek near Dillon Park in the city’s Miners Mills section.
