WAUSAU, Wis. — The Wausau Center Mall has been auctioned off for nearly $13 million at a sheriff’s foreclosure sale.

The buyer and the future of the mall however, remains a mystery. Marathon County Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Heggelund tells WAOW-TV (http://bit.ly/2vYmtli ) he was prepared for some bidding during the auction Tuesday, but there was only one buyer. An attorney made the $12.8 million bid for an undisclosed buyer.

The sale will be finalized Aug. 14 at the courthouse when the buyer will pay in full. The mall was foreclosed in early June, prompting the sale.
