SUGARMILL WOODS, Fla. — Authorities say a police dog found a missing woman with dementia by following a scent kit she had made two years ago.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office reported on its Facebook page that the elderly woman had been missing from her home for about two hours Tuesday night. Deputy Justin Williams and K-9 Ally used a kit that included the woman’s scent and found her in less than five minutes.

The unidentified woman was returned home and the dog was rewarded with a vanilla ice cream cone.
