SLIDELL, La. — Louisiana police say a woman clubbed a man into submission when he left a chase after someone else and attacked her.

Slidell Police Detective Daniel Seuzeneau (SOO-zuh-noh) said in an email Thursday that the woman says she keeps the club for protection.

He said in a news release that the woman heard a commotion Monday and when she checked, she saw a man chasing someone down the street, but then “charged at her, punched her in the face several times, and forced his way into her home.”

Seuzeneau says the man began jumping around when police arrived and was transported to a hospital because he was acting irrational.

Seuzeneau says 23-year-old Rakeem Ash was later jailed for home invasion and simple battery.

He doesn’t know if Ash has an attorney.
