OPELIKA, Ala. — An Alabama man accused in the shooting of his nephew has been charged with murder.

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones tells local media that deputies responded Thursday evening to a reported shooting at an Opelika home. Responders had found a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the driveway.

County coroner Bill Harris says that 40-year-old Marshall Lee Norgard wasn’t showing any signs of life and pronounced him dead.

Jones says investigators identified 54-year-old Michael Lee Norgard, the victim’s uncle, as a suspect. He says the victim and suspect had been arguing before the shooting happened. A .40-caliber handgun was recovered from Michael Norgard’s home.

Michael Norgard was arrested in connection to the shooting. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.

An autopsy will be performed on Marshall Norgard’s body.
