WICKENBURG, Ariz. — The Latest on a fatal wreck that partially closed an Arizona highway (all times local):
Authorities say a car collided head-on with a tractor-trailer rig, killing the car’s two occupants and partially closing the main highway link between Phoenix and Las Vegas for a brief time.
Trooper Kameron Lee of the Arizona Department of Public Safety says the car was traveling north on U.S. 93 near the junction of State Route 71 northwest of Wickenburg Friday morning when the car crossed the center line and collided with the semi.
Lee says both vehicles left the highway and that the truck driver suffered minor injuries.
The state Department of Transportation says southbound traffic was unaffected and northbound closure was lifted after about 20 minutes.
The main highway linking Las Vegas and Phoenix has reopened after being partially closed briefly due to a multivehicle accident that authorities say killed two people.
The Arizona Department of Transportation says northbound US 93 has reopened after being closed south of State Route 71 northwest of Wickenburg for about 20 minutes because of the Friday morning collision.
Trooper Kameron Lee of the state Department of Public Safety says preliminary information indicates a tractor-trailer rig was involved in the wreck.
Additional information on circumstances of the wreck isn’t immediately available.
ADOT says southbound US 93 was unaffected by the closure.
