Shirley Kay Bergsieker

COLUMBUS

Shirley Kay Bergsieker, 65, of Columbus, died at 12:43 p.m. on July 25, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Shirley was born July 3, 1952, in Seymour to Fred and Joyce Stearns. She married Ed Bergsieker on July 2, 1988, at Zion Baptist Church in North Vernon.

She graduated from Jennings County High School in 1970.

She spent her 45-year career working for the Indiana Department of Transportation as an Office Manager in the construction department. She greatly enjoyed her work and the INDOT staff was like family to her.

She was a life-long member of Grace Lutheran Church. Her passion was spending time with her family.

The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor John Armstrong officiating. Calling hours will be Sunday, July 30, from 1-5 p.m. and from 12:00 until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Vernon Cemetery in North Vernon.

Survivors include her husband Ed; daughters, Sarah (Frank) Jamerson of Columbus, Rachel Bergsieker of Washington D.C., and Kelly England of Madison; a sister, Jan (Ron) Wayman, and brother, Mike Stearns, both of North Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
