NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A grand jury has charged a woman in the death of a Tennessee police officer who tried to help her.

The Tennessean reports Davidson County district attorney’s office spokeswoman Dorinda Carter said a Davidson County grand jury on Friday charged 41-year-old Juli Glisson with aggravated vehicular homicide.

She is charged in the death of 44-year-old Nashville police Officer Eric Mumaw in February. Mumaw and other officers were called to help a reportedly suicidal woman in her car on a boat ramp into the Cumberland River in Madison.

Police said at the time that Mumaw was pulled into the water with Glisson’s vehicle when she shifted from park. Another officer tried to save Mumaw but was unable to because of the frigid water.

Police reported Glisson’s blood alcohol content was nearly three times the legal limit to drive in Tennessee.
