SALT LAKE CITY — Police are looking for an assailant and witnesses after an attack left two men injured in a shooting and possible stabbing overnight in downtown Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake police Lt. Dave Cracroft tells KSL-TV (http://bit.ly/2v65FvH ) that officers responding to reports of gunfire on West North Temple found a man with a gunshot wound a few blocks west of Interstate 15.

He was taken to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition.

Cracroft says another man with an apparent stab wound was admitted in serious condition after he was driven by friends to a nearby hospital.

Police questioned a man found running from the shooting scene, but Cracroft says he’s an apparent witness and not the assailant.
