TROY, Va. — Two inmates have died days apart at a Virginia correctional center.

Media outlets report that the inmates died at Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women in the last week.

Virginia Department of Corrections officials say 70-year-old Carolyn Liberto died on July 21 and 38-year-old Deanna Niece died on Tuesday. Officials say Liberto was from Portsmouth and had been incarcerated since 1984 for murder. Niece was from northern Virginia and had been incarcerated since 2015.

The medical examiner will determine their causes of death.
