PARSONS, W.Va. — Authorities say a 63-year-old man accused of killing a woman has died at Tygart Valley Regional Jail a day after his arrest.

The Inter-Mountain in Elkins reports that Randy Scott Shull, who was charged with second-degree murder, was found dead Thursday after his cellmate notified jail officials.

State Police Cpl. J.R. Wince says Shull appears to have died of natural causes. Autopsy results were still pending.

According to a criminal complaint, a Tucker County sheriff’s deputy was sent to a rural residence Wednesday afternoon to investigate a report of an unresponsive female, later identified as Katherine Lillie.

The complaint says Shull told the deputy he pushed Lillie, with whom he had been arguing, and she stumbled and fell to the floor with her head against the wall.
