FAIRFIELD, Vt. — Vermont state police say a 7-year-old boy has died after the tractor he and his father were riding overturned on steep terrain.

Grady Howrigan was a passenger in the tractor driven by 38-year-old Luke Howrigan on Friday afternoon. Police say the tractor was pulling a manure tanker that rolled due to incline. The tractor overturned, trapping both the father and boy.

Police say Luke Howrigan was able to free himself but could not free the boy. The child was pronounced dead at the scene at the Fairfield farm on Route 36.

Police say no charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
