Chottie was also a long-time volunteer with the Book Buddies program at Richards Elementary School.

Chottie was a loving mother who adored her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Candace Clapp Herzog and her husband Joseph of Frederick, MD, Christopher David Clapp and his wife Ellen of Indianapolis, IN, and Charlotte (Crickett) Clapp Kughen and her husband Rick of Kokomo, IN. Chottie is also survived by five grandchildren, Samuel Wray and William Somers Clapp of Chicago, IL, Alexa Claire Herzog of Queens, NY, and Alexa Marie and Eric Wesley Kughen of Kokomo, IN.

Chottie will be fondly remembered by her family for her enormous capacity for loving and caring for children, her sweet and cheerful disposition, and her love of ice cream.
