TUCSON, Ariz. — Authorities say a landscaper is dead after a bee attack at a home on the southwestern outskirts of Tucson.

A Drexel Heights Fire District spokeswoman says the landscaper died at the scene of the bee attack Monday morning. His name wasn’t immediately released.

Authorities say the man already was being attacked by the bees when he approached a co-worker spraying for weeds and bugs.

Pima County Sheriff’s officials say no hive was found at the home and circumstances of the attack remain unclear.

A resident of the home was taken to a hospital for treatment, but was expected to be released soon. The other landscaper refused treatment.

Authorities didn’t immediately identify the second landscaper or the resident. It was unclear if there were any other witnesses to the bee attack.
