NEWARK, N.J. — Police in New Jersey’s largest city are searching for a man who they say tried to steal a motorcycle.

NJ.com reports (http://bit.ly/2vWXQ9F ) Newark police responded to reports of a carjacking Sunday evening. Police say the suspect drove up to a man who was on a motorcycle, struck him with a gun and then tried to flee with the vehicle.

Investigators say the suspect couldn’t start the motorcycle. Police say the suspect fled in the car he approached the motorcycle rider in.

An investigation is ongoing.
