ERIE, Pa. — A suspended Erie police officer has pleaded guilty to charges in a drunken driving crash that killed another driver.

The Erie Times News ( ) reports that 47-year-old Cheryl Frey pleaded guilty Tuesday in Erie County Court to a felony count of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and a misdemeanor DUI count. Frey, who has been suspended without pay from the Erie Bureau of Police, is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 8.

Authorities said Frey’s car crossed into opposing traffic early on Feb. 18 in McKean Township and hit another vehicle, killing 57-year-old driver Wade Schulze. Investigators said Frey, who was seriously injured, acknowledged having consume alcohol at two local taverns and tests indicated that her blood-alcohol content was nearly three times the legal limit for driving.
