RICHMOND, Va. — A Virginia woman who authorities say fatally stabbed her 60-year-old father has been arrested.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports 27-year-old Mattie Therese Dixon was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the death of Jerome Isiah Dixon.

Police found Jerome in a vehicle that was sitting in a travel lane Sunday around 10:15 a.m. Lt. Chris Garrett with the Henrico County police says an officer approached the vehicle and discovered a male passenger suffering from stab wounds. Authorities later located Mattie at a business near where the victim was found.

Dixon’s attorney Shannon Dillon says she couldn’t comment on the allegations against her client.

A preliminary hearing in the case was set for Oct. 23.
