LOS GATOS, Calif. — Prosecutors a Northern California couple accused of sexually molesting a son they adopted from Russia will be sentenced to up to 24 years in prison under a plea deal announced Wednesday.

The San Jose Mercury News reports (http://bayareane.ws/2w8zCJw) 73-year-old Ralph Flynn will be sentenced to 24 years under the plea deal negotiated by Santa Clara County deputy district attorney Oanh Tran.

Flynn was charged with sexually molesting the boy for 10 years, starting when he was adopted at age 9 and brought home to Los Gatos. Flynn faced more than 200 years in prison.

His 44-year-old wife, Carolyn Flynn, was accused of joining in the sexual abuse starting when the boy was 15. She will be sentenced to 12 years.

The abuse came to light in 2015 after the victim confided in his former middle-school principal, who reported it to police.
