BOULDER, Colo. — Skeletal remains found near a reservoir northwest of Denver are those of a 20-year-old man who went missing in January 2016 after leaving his job at Eldora Mountain Resort.

The Boulder Daily Camera reports a fisherman found Ryder Johnson’s remains near Gross Reservoir on Saturday. The Boulder County coroner’s office has not said how the Lafayette man died.

Johnson was last seen leaving the ski resort on Jan. 17, 2016, and his car was found later that night parked in southwest Boulder County.

The remains were found scattered in the area where the car was found.

Johnson’s family released a statement Thursday, saying they are “relieved that we can finally bring Ryder home and grateful for the 20 years he enriched our lives.”
