NORFOLK, Va. — A Virginia man has been charged in connection with the shooting of another man and a 12-year-old girl.

The Daily Press reports 18-year-old Thomas Q. Hairston was charged with two counts of malicious wounding and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Norfolk police said in a news release that the shooting occurred Tuesday just after 10 p.m. Responding officers found the man and the child suffering from gunshot wounds that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Authorities say the man and child were shot following an argument. Hairston fled and was later located at the hospital with a gunshot wound. He is listed in critical, but stable condition.

Further details have not been released. It’s unclear if Hairston has a lawyer.
