LINCOLN, Neb. — A Lincoln teen has been sentenced to 100 years to life in prison for the shooting death of a Lincoln man and wounding of another in a plot to steal marijuana.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports that Markel Steel was sentenced Friday in Lancaster County District Court after he pleaded guilty in June to second-degree murder and to first-degree assault.

Prosecutors say Steel, now 18, was 17 in April 2016 when he burst into a Lincoln home and fatally shot 32-year-old Christopher Coleman and left Jerry Griffis Jr. paralyzed from the waist down.

Two other accomplices were earlier convicted and sentenced to prison in the case.
