SPENCER, Tenn. — A 10-year-old girl has died after falling from a cliff at a Tennessee state park.

Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation spokesman Eric Ward tells local media that Grace Goodwin died Wednesday evening at Fall Creek Falls State Park near Spencer.

Ward says a witness saw Grace lose her footing and fall from an area off the main trial and fell “a couple hundred feet.” She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The girl’s father and younger sister were nearby at the time of the fall.

Ward says the department’s thoughts and prayers are with the girl’s family.
