DSI’s formal dance big hit

Staff Report

Developmental Services Inc.’s recent Hollywood Nights Formal Dance featured glamorous gowns, dapper suits, music, dancing, food, friends and fun for hundreds of individuals with disabilities.

The July 15 event at The Commons in downtown Columbus was open to anyone at least 16 years of age with a disability, and their family, caregiver or guardian.

It was the first time DSI reached out to so many individuals with disabilities to attend a social event. Nearly 500 guests from several counties and service providers assembled together for an evening that included a sparking grape juice toast, food, a complementary photo, a chance to dress up and an opportunity for attendees to reveal their personalities and dance moves.

Developmental Services, Inc. is a non-profit organization established in 1975 and provides services for children and adults with disabilities in 44 counties in Indiana, including Bartholomew.
