VINCENNES, Ind. — Members of a southwestern Indiana boat club forced out of their longtime clubhouse years ago have lined up financing to rebuild it at another site.

The Vincennes Boat Club had been located for eight decades in Vincennes’ Kimmell Park overlooking the Wabash River, but it lost its clubhouse in 2014 to a $2.5 million renovation of the park by Vincennes University.

The club members signed an agreement with the university in 2015 giving them another slice of city-owned, riverside property and $20,000 for a new clubhouse.

The Vincennes Sun-Commercial reports that a city committee has approved loaning the club $7,000 to help with the rebuild.

The club’s 130 members say their new clubhouse will provide for a more private setting when it’s completed in about a month.
