Columbus Police Department hosted a “CPD and Me” block party to celebrate the community’s support of local law enforcement efforts. The free event at Donner Park was in conjunction with the 24th annual National Night Out, a nationwide crime- and drug-prevention effort.

About 20 Columbus residents met to discuss noise, reckless driving and juveniles on 25th Street at the first neighborhood meeting sponsored by Columbus Police Department.

A lightning bolt, described as a “ball of fire” after it hit a television antenna, ripped through the interior of a Lowell Addition house. No fire resulted.
