BRISTOL, Vt. — Firefighters in Vermont say a blaze that broke out on Hogback Mountain is contained.
Bristol firefighters say the forest fire that broke out Friday night is fully contained and there are no more concerns about it spreading. No homes were threatened.
The fire grew to nearly 4 acres Friday night, when firefighters abandoned the area out of safety concerns. Firefighter returned Saturday to establish a perimeter.
Bristol Fire Chief Brett LaRose says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
He said the fire serves as an important reminder that forest fires remain a threat even in a region that has received plentiful rain. He urged campers to ensure fires are completely extinguished.
