GREENSBORO, N.C. — A North Carolina man wanted for murder and an accomplice trying to help him elude police have been captured.

The Greensboro Police Department said Monday 23-year-old Tafari Ashante Henderson-Samuels was wanted in the weekend shooting death of 20-year-old Steven Lemar Smith. Detectives said Smith and Henderson-Samuels were involved in an altercation that led to gunfire while they were riding in a car being driven through a Greensboro neighborhood.

Police said Henderson-Samuels and 22-year-old Rodney Kyle Corbett led police on a chase Monday before crashing the car they were riding in. They fled on foot before they were caught a short distance from the crash.

Both men face multiple charges. Henderson-Samuels is jailed without bond. Corbett is jailed on a $25,000 bond. It’s not known if either man has an attorney.
