FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Authorities in New Jersey say a single-vehicle crash involving a utility pole caused a power outage. reports ( ) the crash occurred around 5:40 p.m. in Franklin Township. Police say a minivan struck a utility pole, breaking it into three pieces, before hitting a tree.

JCP&L officials say around 500 customers in Hunterdon County were affected by the ensuing power outage. Crews worked to replace the pole and repair damaged transformers. Power was restored by 10:30 p.m.

Occupants of the van were treated at Hunterdon Medical Center.
