PLEASANT GROVE, Utah — Police say a Utah man has been arrested for stealing narcotic boxes from a fire department where he once interned.

Brenden Ivie, a part-time firefighter with the Salt Lake County Fire Department, was arrested Sunday after authorities set up surveillance to watch the building.

The Pleasant Grove Fire Department had previously reported four separate thefts from ambulances in July and August.

Each narcotic box, valued at about $60, has a small tag for tracking and security purposes. They contain fentanyl, diazepam, ketamine, morphine and midazolam.

Police say Ivie told officers that he broke into the department on all four occasions and stole the narcotics.

He was arrested on suspicion of five felonies and eight misdemeanors.
