Frederick William Brown III

Frederick William “Bill” Brown III, 75, of Elizabethtown, passed away on August 8, 2017, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Born February 5, 1942, in Indianapolis, Mr. Brown was the son of the late Frederick William Brown Sr. and Mary Emma O’Rourke Brown. He married Patricia “Pat” Nichols on June 5, 1965 in Indianapolis. She survives.

Mr. Brown was a 1960 graduate of Scecina Memorial High School in Indianapolis and a 1968 graduate of Butler University School of Pharmacy in Indianapolis. He served as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1962. Mr. Brown was a Pharmacist and worked for Medicap in North Vernon for ten years, retiring in 2005 from CVS where he had worked 20 years. He previously worked for Hooks Drug Store in North Vernon and was owner of Ayrway Pharmacy in Columbus for eight years. He loved his grandchildren and never missed a practice, a game or a gymnastics competition. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. For 50 years straight he enjoyed taking a fishing trip to Canada. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and he always had a joke to tell.

Surviving with his wife, Patricia, are daughter, Trish (Shane) Meier of Elizabethtown; son, Michael Brown of Columbus; grandchildren, Nolan Meier, Mickey Meier and Gabbie Meier, all of Elizabethtown, and Michaela Brown and Haily Brown, both of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Daureen Bis.

A funeral service for Mr. Brown will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, August 11, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon with the local V.F.W. providing military graveside rites.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Heart Association.
