WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Crews have been searching a river in northeastern Pennsylvania after a man failed to return home from fishing on it.

Authorities say 54-year-old Rick Bevan’s wife notified them Tuesday night when he didn’t return from an afternoon of fishing on the Susquehanna (sus-kwe-HAN’-nah) River in Wilkes-Barre.

Deputy Fire Chief Alan Klapat says Bevan was known to fish in the afternoons, but usually returned home by 8 p.m.

Crews found Bevan’s boat, which was upright, but no sign of him.

Crews searched Tuesday night, then again during the day Wednesday. The investigation was continuing Thursday.
