RENO, Nev. — Nevada wildlife officials say they haven’t been able to find any sign of a mountain lion that reportedly was spotted in three different locations in Reno earlier this week.

Nevada Department of Wildlife spokesman Aaron Meier says they follow up on a number of such sightings every year and more often than not it doesn’t end up being a mountain lion.

But he told the Reno Gazette-Journal ( ) that doesn’t mean the big cats don’t sometimes make their way into the urban area along the Sierra’s eastern front.

All three sightings were reported at various times Wednesday. Two reports were made near Midtown, south of the downtown casino district.

The first sighting was near Plumb Lane and Kirman Avenue. The second was just down the street near Plumb Lane and South Virginia Street.
