NEW YORK — Police in New York City are searching for a man who they say robbed a towing company last week.

WNBC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2voSpCh ) the robbery occurred around 10 p.m. Aug. 4 in Brooklyn. Police say a man walked into Mike’s Heavy Duty Towing and forced a female employee on the ground as he simulated a gun. Investigators say the suspect demanded cash and payroll checks.

According to police, the man stole $1,200 in checks before fleeing the East New York business.

Police have released surveillance footage of the robbery.
