CRANSTON, R.I. — Police in Rhode Island say two alleged gang members are in custody following a police chase that began in Providence and ended with a crash in Cranston.

Commander Thomas Verdi says officers pursued a fast-moving vehicle Friday in Providence. He says the driver, Anthony Todd, has been identified as an active member of the “Clown Town” gang.

Police say the chase continued into Cranston, where Todd lost control of the car and hit a pole. They say Todd and his passenger, Trenton Lee, an alleged gang member, were hospitalized with apparent head and facial injuries.

Todd faces gun possession and resisting arrest charges. Lee is being held on two active warrants.

Court records don’t list an attorney for Todd. A lawyer listed for Lee couldn’t immediately be reached Saturday.
