Freetown man attempts to elude police on bike

A Freetown man was arrested after he attempted to elude Columbus police officers on a bicycle.

Columbus Police Officer Travis Harbaugh saw Charles A. Reed, 29, at 8:45 p.m. Friday riding a bicycle near State and Jones streets and knew that Reed had multiple pending warrants for his arrest, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Reed refused to stop and continued riding the bicycle in an attempt to elude Harbaugh. Reed later rode his bicycle behind a building on Dahn Street where where he stopped and Harbaugh was able to arrest him, Harris said.

Reed was arrested on two Bartholomew County warrants for failure to appear and resisting law enforcement, Harris said.
