Legion offers scholarship competition

The American Legion, Department Indiana, is accepting enrollment in the Fourth Grade Flag Education and Etiquette Scholarship Program.

Students will take a flag education test in November to coincide with Veterans Day, open to only for fourth grade students in public, private and parochial schools.

The “Our Country’s Flag” comic book is used as a study guide for the test.

The test consists of 20 questions and a short essay. Two state winners receive a $1,000 college scholarship.

Teachers who wish to apply to have their fourth-graders participate in the program will find the application form at indianalegion.org/flag-scholarship.html. Deadline for applications is Sept. 29.
