Phyllis Ann McQueary

COLUMBUS

Phyllis Ann McQueary, 82, of Columbus, passed from this life at 5:19 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Mrs. McQueary was born July 7, 1935, in Linton, Indiana, the daughter of Orville James and Mary Leona Criss Malan.

A homemaker, Mrs. McQueary was a member of Becks Grove Christian Church and she attended the Community Church of Columbus.

Survivors include her children, Jeffery (Lanice Young) McQueary of Columbus, Justin McQueary of Brown County, Janet Walsh of Bradenton, Florida, and Jean (Dale) Wirthlin of Cincinnati, Ohio; a son-in-law, Ronald Eddins of Brown County; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Faye Malan of Princeton, Indiana and Karen (Ty) Streeval of Freetown, Indiana; brothers, Howard (Donna) Malan of Brown County, Jack Malan of Columbus, and Bob Malan of Whitesburg, Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mrs. McQueary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert McQueary; a daughter, Julia Eddins; infant children, Joel and Jolinda; a grandson, Jason McQueary; sisters, Ruth Hendricks, Joan Weddle Martin, Thelma Chelf, Esther Rutledge, and Barbara Strahl; and brothers, Orville Malan Jr., John Paul Malan, and Fred Malan.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, August 19th, at Becks Grove Christian Church, 8009 South Becks Grove Road, Freetown, IN 47235, with Pastor Jim Weld officiating.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Private inurnment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
