Delbert “Dale” Shuffitt, 70, of Eighth Street, died at 7:42 a.m. August 15, 2017, at his home.

Dale was born November 3, 1946, in Indianapolis, the son of Easton and Ellen Hurt Shuffitt. He married Diane Combest June 21, 1986.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dale had a special love for playing music, especially any instrument with a set of strings.

Throughout his life, Dale loved to buy used bicycles at yard sales and give them to the neighborhood children who couldn’t afford them.

Dale loved spending time with his family, especially at reunions and family get-togethers.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Wes Jones officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Survivors include his wife, Diane; son, Tony Dale (Crystal) Shuffitt of Columbus; daughters, Megan R. (Franklin) Rains of Columbus and Barbara A. (Mike) Ramey, of Noblesville; brothers, Ted (Sharon) Gibson of Edmonton, Kentucky, and Wayne (Pat) Shuffitt of Bloomington; sisters, Hazel Gibson of Columbus, Judy Hamilton of Glasgow, Kentucky, and Brenda (Ricky) Romines of Scottsville, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Easton Shuffitt; mother, Ellen Hurt Gibson; brothers, David Earl Shuffitt Sr. and Raymond Shuffitt; and a sister, Linda Merriman.
