Help for veterans, families available

The fourth annual South-Central Indiana Stand Down will offer resources to veterans service members and military families on Sept. 7.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Donner Park, 739 22nd St. Proof of service or military identification is required to access the free services at the event.

Local providers will be offering haircuts, health screenings, legal assistance, emergency housing options, employment support services, stress management education, energy assistance and vision screenings. There will be assistance for people needing help in applying for food stamps, accessing Veterans Affairs benefits, Social Security benefits, child support and other services.
