A Make Your Own Emoji event with artist Tre Reising is planned as a Columbus Area Arts Council pop-up event at the kidscommons children’s museum.

Materials including plaster cast emoji, paint, glitter, glue, felt and other items will be provided. Cost of the all-ages workshop is $7 for person, and there are two 45-minute sessions available, 11 to 11:45 a.m. or noon to 12:45 p.m. Saturday.

Reising is the Indiana-born artist and creator of the giant emoji art in the kidscommons. Emoji — small digital icons, often of faces — are a shorthand way to express feelings without words, circumventing language barriers and creating grammatical systems all their own.

Pre-registration for either session is requested by calling 812-378-3046 or by stopping in at kidscommons, 309 Washington St., before Friday.

For people who wish to stay after the workshop to explore the museum, there is an additional $7 admission fee, available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
