ROME, N.Y. — Authorities say they’re searching for a 35-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting in the parking lot of a central New York bar.

Police in the city of Rome say they responded around 3:30 a.m. Saturday to reports of shots fired in the parking lot of Sammy G’s.

Detectives say 25-year-old Thomas E. Shepherd Jr. was shot with a handgun during a fight in the parking lot. He was taken to Rome Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
