PETERSBURG, Va. — Authorities believe a blaze that injured two firefighters at a vacant home in central Virginia was likely intentionally set.

News media outlets report that the two firefighters were injured early Monday when the front porch of the Petersburg home where they were battling the blaze collapsed. Officials say one of the firefighters was sent to the hospital and later released and the other firefighter was treated on the scene.

Petersburg Fire Marshal James Reid tells The Petersburg Progress-Index that it “appears at this time to be an intentionally set fire.” He says investigators believe the fire was started on the building’s front porch.
